EXPERIENCE PROSTHETIC
In this module of form and experience we were assigned the site of Borivali Railway station and asked to make live sketches of the things that we find interesting. Our task was to visually document how the railway station and its surroundings were shaped by the interactions between people, objects, and architecture.
Day 1:
The two sketches on the side were my very first live sketches. They were the random sketches of first me looking from one platform to the other while the second sketch is of the way people inhabiting the platform while waiting for the train.
The Final Drawing :
Day 2 :
I observed the movement of the crowd on various locations on the stations. Some people are running to catch the train while some who came out of the train are walking; the other just seating around in the wait of the train. I started sketching these movements of the crowd in different places like the platforms , the ramp, the skywalks etc.
So collecting all these separate sketches I made an imaginary space of these places connecting together.
This space unfolds the various routes of the people taken to reach the desired platform from the entrance which captures the different movements of the crowd.
Prosthetic of the Experience:
The next step was giving a form to the spatial experience brought by the drawing. I came up with some ideations for the prosthetic that would depict the sense of multiple entangled routes connecting eachother.
Ideation 1:
A huge funnel like cap made using acrylic mirror sheet which would give an optical illusion of a long route travelling in.

Ideation 2:
An outfit; uncomfortable with interconnected parts through various routes.

Ideation 3:
An costume of body parts entangled between numerous routes from bottom to head. The unreal parts connecting the real body parts to show the connection between the existing and an imaginary space.

Ideation 3 was the finalized idea for the prosthetic where I made human body parts ; hands and legs representing the different imaginary routes emerging out of the real body and connecting to it and themselves.
